Prince: The Artist Formerly Slated For Croke Park Date, Court Told

Keith Sarkisian, an executive with William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, described to the Commercial Court, dinner conversations with pop music’s Prince, in which he was led to believe a Croke Park concert was still slated to go on.

The court was in the proceedings of an €1.7m action launched by MCD against the icon and his agents, in compensation for a cancelled concert at the venue. Questioned by Mr. Justice Peter Kelly, Sarkisian replied that after tickets had gone on sale for the concert he had had two dinners with the singer. In the first no indication was given that the show would not go on, and in the second, at the singer’s home, ended when the singer left before any of the details could be discussed. When asked why he did not insist on discussions Mr. Sarkisian responded “You don’t tell Prince to come back”.

As questioning continued Mr. Sarkisian gave details on ongoing email correspondence with Prince’s personal assistant, Ruth Arzate, during which he claimed it was clear that the Dublin show was a confirmed performance. He only became aware that the show was being cancelled in a meeting on June 3rd, during which he described Prince as agitated on his cancellation options.
