Three Found Guilty in “Olympic” Sized Fraud

Allan Thomas Scott, Geradus Petrus Paulus van Meer, and Terence Shepherd, have been found guilty of deceit and conspiracy in connection with ticket fraud. The fraud, perpetrated against would-be Beijing Olympic attendees netted the trio some $3 million in illicit profits.

The trio acted under the auspices of an internet company Xclusive Leisure and Hospitality Ltd, using it to offer non-existent tickets to interested persons, found presider, Mr. Justice Tugendhat. He is reserving judgment on final liability but has deemed them to be personally liable for company debts, and has already ordered them to pay the $500,000 costs of the claimant, WiseCard Bank.

“This decision sends a clear signal to ticket scammers around the world” noted partner Tim Boyce, “You will be pursued for your illegal activities.” Even tighter legislation is expected for the London 2012 Games, but the temptations of quick gains is expected to create a dirge of ticket scams and false sites.
